The vast majority of data shows being car free and not flying is the most effective action that the individual can take to reduce their carbon footprint.

Tackling this today will often only be practical by driving less and avoiding flying where possible. Recreational travel does not need to involve flying; we live in a beautiful county and country.

Using public transport, cycling and walking is ideal but not always realistic in Surrey. An early win is simply to drive your car more efficiently, keeping to the speed limits. When you can change to efficient vehicles and ultimately non fossil fuel.

Think about your journeys and eliminate unnecessary use of cars. Get some exercise and walk or cycle, try an electric bike they’re awesome. Live and work locally where possible, communicate virtually, this has a major impact on reducing pollution.

Electric cars are a huge advance, yet are not without significant pollution. Advances in aviation efficiency are welcome, yet not a solution. If much of the reported pollution in the life span of a car is in its production, the pollution from its use is only part of the equation.
